Genki Wagyu Shabu House Rockville: Upscale Japanese Hot Pot & Sushi Experience | Twinbrook Quarter (2026)

Genki Wagyu Shabu House, a modern Japanese hot pot and sushi restaurant, has opened its doors in Rockville's Twinbrook Quarter. This new addition to the area promises an upscale dining experience, offering a unique twist on the traditional Japanese 'shabu shabu' hot pot. The restaurant's focus on this specific dining style sets it apart from other hot pot restaurants in the region, providing a more refined and interactive culinary journey. With a menu featuring high-grade Wagyu beef, seafood, tofu, and vegetables, diners can customize their hot pot experience by choosing from six different broths. The restaurant offers three tiers of all-you-can-eat hot pot experiences, catering to various preferences and budgets. The 'basic' silver experience is priced at $58, the gold experience at $78, and the diamond level at $98, with the latter including a range of appetizers, A5 Wagyu, a seafood platter, and unlimited sushi. The sushi menu also boasts an array of options, from sashimi and nigiri to signature maki rolls and hand rolls, along with appetizers like salmon carpaccio and Wagyu Katsu sandwiches. The restaurant's design incorporates traditional Japanese elements, including red torii gates and tea rooms, creating an immersive dining atmosphere. The second level, inspired by the red torii gates, will be closed during the soft opening, allowing the restaurant to focus on perfecting its service. With seating for up to 120 people, ranging from booths to tabletops and barstools, Genki Wagyu Shabu House aims to provide an exceptional dining experience. While a grand opening date has not been set, the restaurant is currently in a soft opening mode, offering dinner service from 5 to 10 p.m. on Sundays to Thursdays and 5 to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. This new establishment joins a growing culinary scene in the Twinbrook Quarter, which already includes Terra Gaucha, Wegman's grocery store, and Molly Tea, with the Afghan eatery ZiZa Kabob set to open in August.
